His first wife was Princess Fawzia Fuad of Egypt. The daughter of King Fuad I and sister of Egypt’s King Farouk. She married him in 1939, two years before him being Shah.
The royal marriage did not last long. They eventually got divorced.

Princess Fawzia Fuad was his first wife.
She was born on November 5, 1921. The princess belonged to Egypt’s Muhammad Ali dynasty.
Her brother Farouk had become King of Egypt in 1936.
This meant that the royal marriage between them was not just a marriage of hearts. It was of the royal families of Egypt and Iran.
